Islands' vision began in 1981 as a print publication founded by Islands Media in Santa Barbara, CA. As one of Bonnier Corporation's (currently Bonnier LLC) preeminent magazines, it existed beside other noteworthy brands such as Destination Outdoor Life and Popular Science. Islands' digital presence spans back to 2000, and it has existed as a digital-only publication since 2014. Over the years, Islands has sent writers to every Caribbean and Hawaiian island, as well as destinations in Japan, Tahiti, Fiji, and countless other locales.

After being acquired by Static Media in 2024, Islands is on a mission to simplify travel planning and empower you to navigate the world with confidence and ease.
