Three Lake Toys That Will Keep Kids Happy And Safe On The Lake
A day at the local watering hole gets even better with the right accessories.
Going to the lake can be a relaxing time, yet any parent knows it's not less worrying to see kids out there without something to climb onto. Fortunately, there are plenty of lake toys that allow kids to have fun while giving them a little extra safety.
Check the safety features first. Any lake toy should be easy for kids to climb onto, with platforms and ladders. There should be anchor points you can easily attach safety cables to, so the toy does drift of, or can be lashed to a pier or dock if you're spending more than one day on the lake. And there should be handholds and other grips to make it easier for practicing swimmers to get some stability.
Look for a lake toy with a large area. While any lake toy can be overwhelmed if enough kids crawl onto it, the more space there is to play and bounce, the happier everyone will be. Remember that most kids will have the goal of bouncing off the trampoline into the water, so extra features like built-in waterslides are a nice bonus as well.
Don't forget there's more than one way to enjoy the lake, though. For example, RC vehicles like boats and amphibious vehicles can be a lot of fun, especially on days when the water's too cold to get in, or the sun is covered, but the day is warm enough to hang out near the lake. Just remember to check the batteries, as if an RC car loses power on the water, it may be gone for good.
