How To Make Tierra Chiloé's Ilún Cocktail

The name means “to wish,” as in you’re going to wish you had one right now.

Set in an amazing spot on the Chilean archipelago from which it draws its name, Tierra Chiloé exists almost as a monument to the surrounding national parks. At the very least it is a basecamp for people in search of land and sea adventures the likes of which they won't experience almost anywhere else in the world. Just like its sister properties, Tierra Patagonia and Tierra Atacama, this unique, eco-friendly hotel organizes land and sea excursions to ensure guests get the most of neighboring Chiloé and Tepuhueico National Parks, where they can hike, bike, kayak, or simply just enjoy the stunning views.

And just like the other Tierra properties, Tierra Chiloé celebrates the region by showcasing the best and most unique of its cuisine. In fact, this hotel recently launched a new gastronomical program that encourages guests to turn their meals into a learning experience, as Chilotes detail the living heritage and traditions that exist within local delicacies. Is there anything better than a delicious slice of cheesecake that comes with a side of knowledge?

Perhaps a delicious slice of cheesecake paired with a cocktail that rivals its flavor and culinary creativity. That's what you'll get with Tierra Chiloé's Ilún cocktail. That name means "to wish" in Mapudungún, which is appropriate because you will be wishing you were at Tierra Chiloé as you're making this drink in your kitchen.
