Inside The Reimagined And Reopened Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas
Set to show off massive renovations at the start of 2020, this iconic U.S. Virgin Islands resort is making up for lost time.
Had things gone to plan, 2020 would have been a year of celebration and excitement at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas. One of the most popular resorts in the U.S. Virgin Islands, this property spent considerable time undergoing more than $100 million in renovations and redesign, and with the work wrapped up by the end of 2019, the New Year should have been a blast. But we all know the story very well by now.
Instead, the Ritz reopened its doors late last year in time for a spectacular Thanksgiving special and some other treats for its guests, but with optimism on our minds and a considerable effort to keep the USVI open and safe for travelers, 2021 could hopefully carry over the excitement for this stunning hotel's new look and spectacular new offerings.
It starts with the three-bedroom Presidential Penthouse Experience, which serves as the ultimate accommodation for anyone seeking maximum physical distancing. With more than 3,500-sq.-ft., this lavish home away from home can sleep up to eight guests, making it ideal for those missed anniversary parties or family celebrations. The room boasts a micro kitchen, private terrace, personal concierge service, daily cabana use, Club Lounge access, and one sunset sail on Lady Lynsey II.
The Penthouse also pairs well with the "Elopement Escape" experience, which should be a hit with any couples that had to postpone or cancel a dream destination wedding last year. In addition to an officiant, photographer, court concierge, and a dedicated wedding planner, couples will also have IT support to facilitate a live stream so friends and family can watch at home. (Just be aware: they will be very jealous.) But that's not to say the lucky lovers can't have a party at the resort. Up to 30 guests can attend, but just remember that not all of them can enjoy the rehearsal sunset sail or the island-hopping charters.
Guests seeking unparalleled relaxation and wellness will enjoy the new Seaside Spa Cabana, which takes the almost magical and beyond soothing treatments and therapies of The Spa at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas outdoors. This open-air experience was developed with physical distancing in mind, as it uses the ocean as a backdrop to create something truly memorable.
