Bequia Beach Hotel's Reopening Set For October 1

The Caribbean’s ‘best-kept secret’ gets even better with the addition of new luxury villas.

Bequia is considered by many travelers to be the Caribbean's "best-kept secret" because getting there is half the battle. At just seven square miles, there's no room for an international airport, which is why people who are in on this secret book their flights for Barbados or Saint Lucia, only to catch a transfer to this idyllic gem, the second largest island in the Grenadines.

One of the things that makes Bequia so genuine is the lack of chain hotels, which is what also makes guests appreciate the Bequia Beach Hotel so much more. Tucked away in the beautiful natural flora of Friendship Bay, the island's largest hotel is also its only real resort, offering a spa, three swimming pools and two restaurants. For months, Bequia Beach Hotel's doors have been closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and even after officials reopened St. Vincent and the Grenadines to outside travelers in July, this property remained closed for the sake of focusing on the safety and wellbeing of guests and employees as the highest priority.

And so, it was with great happiness and enthusiasm that owner, Bengt Mortstedt, announced that Bequia Beach Hotel would reopen its doors to the world on October 1. But no good reopening comes without a grand surprise, like the introduction of the new Friendship Bay Estate Villas.

This hotel is certainly already ideal for families, but the addition of the two Estate Villas makes it even easier for groups to gather and practice social distancing without sacrificing luxury—as if the Bequia Air VIP transfer service wasn't enough. This is especially advantageous for people looking to reschedule or even re-plan "lost" milestone events like birthdays, destination weddings, anniversaries, or honeymoons, as increasingly popular buyouts are too pricey for smaller groups.

Both Villas One and Two are available for booking on November 1, and each offers something special. At 7,000-sq. ft., Villa One is the larger of the pair and boasts five suites for up to 10 guests. A separate two-bedroom apartment could serve as a honeymoon suite within a destination wedding experience, or the additional office and media room might turn this into the "workation" trip every parent has been dreaming about. Guests will also enjoy a private pool, gym and outdoor dining area, as well as quick access to the beach and private butler service.

Villa Two is only 5,500-sq. ft. and sleeps up to eight guests in four bedrooms. It also features a private pool, gym, office and media room, as well as butler service, but it has the advantage of starting at $2,500 a night, compared to Villa One at $3,200 a night.

Bequia Beach Hotel's health and safety guidelines also ensure that all guests are practicing social and physical distancing etiquette at all times, but at no detriment to their overall enjoyment. For example, beach seating will be set up to keep groups separated, while staff will clean all beach furniture at least five times daily. In the hotel's two restaurants, all tables will be placed six feet apart, and the spa's staff will take extra time between sessions for in-depth sanitization.
