Baha Mar's New Water Park Set To Open In July

A wave pool, action river, casino pavilion, and a whopping 24 waterslides highlight this incredible $200 million project.

Visitors to Baha Mar have undoubtedly heard the rumors. When we visited the resort in January 2020 for the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association conference, we couldn't help but ask the charming and polite staff for updates on the supposedly "massive" water park, and the only replies we received were wide smiles and "Soon enough." Even officials from across the Caribbean curiously asked for intel, all while sharing their own exciting news.

Well, we now have good news for everyone: Baha Bay is on its way. Opening on July 2, Baha Mar's massive beachfront waterpark is, simply put, a game changer. Set on 15 acres, it will rival most major theme parks with a variety of activities that travelers won't find anywhere in the Caribbean, let alone the Bahamas. And while it's safe to assume that things will only get better in the coming years, as far as debuts go, this is a heck of a first splash.

For starters, guests of all ages will love having 24 waterslides to choose from, but the thrills will exceed expectations with a dueling water coaster, wave pool, an action river, and even a Surf Simulator. Little ones will also get their first tastes of adventure at the splash zones, and parents will love being able to retreat to a luxurious cabana or one of the infinity pools for a little rest between slide action. Adults will also appreciate the opportunity to play their favorite games at the outdoor casino pavilion.

Of course, anyone who has already stayed at Baha Mar knows this resort is also a foodie's haven, and Baha Bay only adds to the culinary celebration. Families can pop into The Market to grab lunch at Cleo Grill, Sam's Crispy Chicken, Plant Nation, and/or Chill, while Sugar Factory and Umami Burger are also on-site. And for those of us who love the convenience (and incredible margaritas) of the resort's food trucks, Barracuda will scratch that itch here as well.
