Celebrate National Rum Day With Two Classic Cocktails From Turks And Caicos
If there’s one thing Provo’s best and most popular restaurants know, it’s how to make a great rum drink.
Visiting Turks and Caicos without stopping at Da Conch Shack and Rum Bar is like visiting Pisa and not stopping by the Leaning Tower so you can take a picture pretending you're holding it up. Except in the case of Da Conk Shack, you're going to want pictures of cracked conch and wings, because you'll devour them so quickly you won't remember what they looked like.
Don't believe me? Just ask Da Conch Shack's biggest fan, Chrissy Teigen:
She's not lying about the spicy jerk. On one of my last visits to Turks and Caicos, I made it clear I wasn't leaving unless I stopped by Da Conch Shack for orders of the jerk and PeppaJoy grilled wings, along with an order of Johnny Fries, which are so good that I think about them at least once a week.
This spot is also home to some great cocktails, like the Turks Delight, which is very simple to make at home. We know because Da Conch Shack was kind enough to gift us the recipe for National Rum Day (August 16), so we can share it with you now.
Da Conch Shack and Rum Bar’s Turks Delight
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Bambarra Gold
- 0.5 oz Triple Sec
- 4 oz pineapple juice
How to Make It:
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake and serve.
Told you it's simple. But Turks and Caicos is packed with awesome food options, so we couldn't limit this to one cocktail recipe. Not when thinking about one restaurant's awesome food immediately reminds me of another amazing meal.
Located near Grace Bay Beach, Coco Bistro is a fantastic spot for a romantic dinner, or simply a meal that will raise the bar for any other restaurants you visit in Provo. At the very least, you'll love the wine and cocktail selections, but you'll thank me later when you finally try the blackened grouper. (It pairs nicely with the peach margarita.)
Coco Bistro also makes a mean Dark N Stormy, which is one of the easiest rum drinks to make, and it is also one of the best cocktails on this planet (one man's opinion). Try it for yourself now.
