VACATIONS

Knoebels in Elysburg, Pennsylvania is a throwback to old amusement parks in all the right ways. The park opened in 1926 and is America's largest free-admission amusement park.
The whole place has a fairground vibe, complete with picnic areas, pools, waterslides, and award-winning food like fresh fudge, barbecue, mac & cheese, and chicken and potatoes.
Thrill-seekers will love the Phoenix, Twister, Impulse, and Flying Turns coasters. There are also flat rides like bumper cars, a log flume, a Ferris wheel, and the Grand Carousel.
In total, there are more than 60 rides and 35 eateries at Knoebels. Concession prices are quite affordable, and rides work on a ticket system, with each costing between $2 and $5.
Knoebels has campgrounds and cottages, so visitors can camp after a day of rides. There are many seasonal events, and you can find specific hours on the Knoebels website.
