VACATIONS
North Carolina has plenty of beaches to visit. While some destinations might be over budget, Jacksonville is affordable and only two hours southeast of Raleigh.
You can find nightly lodging starting at $65 and apartment rentals averaging around $170. The area has plenty of free and low-cost activities that ensure a relaxing trip.
Onslow Pines Park offers an expansive playground for kids, covered pavilions, and fields for sports. You can spend a week just exploring the beaches in this area.
Other places to visit include Walton’s Distillery, where they produce whiskey and moonshine, and Lynwood Park Zoo, a sanctuary for abandoned and injured animals.
Jacksonville’s history is related to the military, so there are quite a few memorials to visit. There is also shopping and a few museums to pack your vacation full of activities.
