Flocks of tourists pass through the Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) in Sint Maarten, but it is considered one of the world's most dangerous airports.
The airport's runway is next to Maho Beach, a tourist hotspot with stunning azure water. It is so close that beachgoers can see planes landing and are hit with extreme jet blasts.
The jet blasts inspired a dangerous trend called fence surfing. It involves individuals grabbing the fence and trying to withstand the blasts that reach 250 miles per hour.
The activity might sound like an adrenaline junkie's dream, but it is dangerous. Fence surfing has caused serious injuries and death, so it's best to observe the planes safely.
