Think Twice Before Putting A Souvenir Stamp On Your Passport

The souvenir passport stamps you can get at places like Checkpoint Charlie can cause you to be denied entry or exit from a country if you have one in your passport.
A 2020 Facebook post from a woman named Tina Sibley stated that Qatar Airlines in Thailand wouldn't accept her passport because she had a novelty stamp from a trip to Machu Picchu.
Souvenir passport stamps are technically illegal. Page five of a U.S. passport states, "Alteration could make the passport invalid, and if willful, may subject you to prosecution."
If you want to collect novelty stamps, get a blank novelty passport. There are a lot of places to get these stamps, such as Machu Picchu, Canada's Churchill, and Easter Island.
