VACATIONS

Silver Falls State Park is the crown jewel of Oregon's State Parks, famous for its stunning Trail of Ten Falls. The trail is a perfect loop that's steeped in the state's history.
Visit the park in the spring for thundering water flows, in the summer to snack on thimbleberries, in the fall to see the leaves change, or in the winter to see the falls frozen.
Starting at the South Falls trailhead, hike along the Trail of Ten Falls to the Upper South Falls, where you can see it fall 177 feet into a misty pool.
As you follow the loop trail, you'll pass behind four different waterfalls and linger near six more. You'll barely feel the 1,000-foot elevation gain over the gently rolling hike.
Silver Falls' structures and trails were built between 1933 and 1940 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The park is a miracle of craftsmanship, thoughtfully and elegantly made.
