Shoes To Avoid Wearing On

Your Next Flight, According to Flight Attendants

There isn't a set rule on what shoes you should wear on a flight. However, according to American Airlines flight attendant Andrea Fischbach, certain types should be avoided.
Fischback explained that as a safety measure you should avoid wearing high heels because they can "make it difficult to quickly evacuate the aircraft.”
She continued, "Heels can possibly cause further damage to emergency exits or hurt others if they go flying off somehow," then added that open-toed shoes are also not recommended.
"Flip-flops and backless shoes can also end up flying off your feet, and your feet are more likely to freeze, especially during a long flight," Fischbach went on to say.
She also warned against "wearing sandals if you are planning on going in the lavatory. [...] Sandals invite whatever that liquid is [on the floor] to splash on your feet."
