VACATIONS
Scotland is a favorite destination for travel expert Rick Steves. If you have some time in the country, he suggests visiting its most underrated destination: the city of Glasgow.
Steves says on his website that Glasgow "offers an energetic dining and nightlife scene, fanciful architecture, and top-notch museums — most of which are free."
While Glasgow has a reputation as run-down, it has recently reinvented itself as a hip city with a cultural edge, and Steves says that the residents are very friendly and chatty.
The city is great for building and art lovers, as it features the work of Glasgow-born architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.
No trip to Glasgow is complete without visiting Buchanan Street, which is riddled with interesting shops. Steves also notes that live music is a staple at West End.
