New York's Uncrowded Alternative To The Hamptons Is Also Family-Friendly

VACATIONS
The Hamptons on Long Island can be quite crowded and expensive. If you'd like something with the same charm but far fewer crowds, visit the historic town of Northport.
Northport Village was originally called Great Cow Harbor, and history is all over the town, from the old trolley tracks down Main Street to Northport Sweet Shop from 1929.
Down the street is the John W. Engeman Theater, which opened in 1912. Across the street is the brand new Northport Hotel, which has 26 rooms and an upscale dining facility.
The harbor is often lit up at night and is a great spot for pictures. The town also has great galleries, restaurants, and bars, including The Wine Cellar on Main.
The Northport Historical Society on Main Street hosts events like the Prohibition Pub Crawl and Sip & Paint nights. Visitors will love the Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium.
