Every Type Of Hiker Will Love Banff National Park's Most Popular Hike

VACATIONS

Some of the most popular trails in Canada's beautiful Banff National Park are totally doable for new hikers and children, including the trails at Johnston Canyon.
The trails are well maintained to give hikers of all skill levels easy access. You're unlikely to encounter rough terrain, but will cross high bridges suspended over waterfalls.
The Lower Falls route is all paved or boardwalk, and the incline is gradual. It’s a good trail for those with mobility issues, though whether it’s wheelchair accessible is debated.
These hikes are open to visitors all year long. Summer is the most popular season, but the trails are also beautiful in the winter, when the falls freeze into ice sculptures.
The only real downside of the hikes is how intensely popular they are. All of Banff National Park gets a lot of tourism, and Johnston Canyon is among its most popular areas.
