VACATIONS
To escape Hawaiian crowds with your family, try Kapi'olani Regional Park, which is situated between Waikiki and Honolulu right along the coast and was founded in the 1870s.
Sidewalks and trails take you through grassy parks with tennis courts, soccer fields, and a duck pond. Check out the Kilohana Hula Show every Sunday through Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
The park features an aquarium and zoo where you can learn about Hawaii's wildlife. You can also take a moment to relax under huge banyan, monkeypod, and ironwood trees.
Exploring Kapi'olani is one way to experience historic Honolulu, and understanding the park's origins will help visitors gain a better appreciation for this green space.
For a family-friendly place to stay in Oahu near Kapi'olani, The Twin Fin resort has stunning oceanfront rooms. At the other end of the park is the Kaimana Beach Hotel.
