VACATIONS

Edinburgh Castle overlooks the city of Edinburgh, Scotland. According to travel expert Rick Steves, many tourists miss the National War Museum of Scotland on the castle grounds.
The building was built in the 1700s for storage and holds centuries of history. Steves says the museum is often overlooked but covers 400 years of Scotland's military history.
Steves writes that the museum covers everything from Scotland's opposition to British rule and its eventual cooperation. It is full of videos, uniforms, weapons, medals, and more.
There are rotating exhibits to enhance each visit and are easily accessible for children. Admission to the National War Museum is free with castle complex paid admission.
