VACATIONS
Travelers hoping to avoid crowds and the cost inflation of destination popularity should skip Nashville and go to an exciting yet budget-friendly destination — Memphis.
Memphis is filled with its own music history (as the home of B.B. King and Elvis Presley,) an impressive roster of affordable activities, and much less crowding.
A hotel room in Nashville is often more than $200 per night, but nightly rates at Memphis’ Hyatt Centric Beale Street are just a little over $100 per night in some cases.
Memphis takes the crown for good, inexpensive eating, with iconic destinations like Sunrise Memphis, Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken, and Rendezvous BBQ.
For the best activities, lean into Memphis' rich cultural past and visit Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Graceland, Sun Studio, and the National Civil Rights Museum.
