Staunton State Park in Colorado is a hidden gem for outdoor adventures, with breathtaking views of the Front Range, thrilling hikes, recreation amenities, and a gorgeous waterfall.
The park’s land is part of a granite rock formation that is over 1 billion years old. It is located 40 miles southwest of downtown Denver, making it very accessible from the city.
Spanning nearly 4,000 acres, Staunton is also a haven for plants and animals, including wildflowers, osprey, woodpeckers, coyotes, elk, chipmunks, and Pacific martens.
The park's 30 miles of gorgeous trails beg to be explored on foot, bike, or horseback. It also features an archery range, over 400 rock climbing routes, and fishing opportunities.
Visitors can also camp overnight at Staunton State Park, with 25 walk-in campsites outfitted with amenities like bear proof food storage, water hydrants, and vault toilets.
