Hyatt Regency Maui Resort And Spa Rolls Out The Red Carpet For Families
A bevy of new experiences will thrill guests of all ages.
Thinking about beating the winter doldrums with a travel destination that the whole family can enjoy? Look no further than the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, which recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation and likewise added a variety of new and enhanced authentic Hawaiian guest experiences that are sure to please visitors of all ages.
Located on 40 acres along Maui's Ka'anapali Beach, the property has been completely reimagined to offer luxury experiences set in a tropical paradise. Teens 12 and up will have a blast with the new "Social Media Mermaid" experience, which—as the name suggests—allows them to pose for Instagram selfies and capture TikTok content in rented mermaid tails. But if teens can manage to put down their phones and devices for long enough, they'll also be taught swimming techniques to navigate the waters just like a "real" mermaid.
Since Maui is hands-down one of the best places in the world to take in clear views of the constellations, the resort's new Astrophotography Workshop allows guests to immerse themselves in the skies above, from on top of the nearby Marriott Maui's Lahaina Tower. NASA astronomer Eddie Mahoney stops by every Monday night to guide the workshop, which teaches guests how to capture brilliant pictures of the night sky by pairing their personal cameras with a brand-new Celestron Deluxe HD telescope.
Those interested in learning about the fascinating creatures that live below the azure waters surrounding the resort can take part in the Marine Life Talks program, which is led by the Hyatt Regency's resident team of wildlife experts. These 20-minute sessions kick off Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, each with a different focus—from toothed predators to colorful fish and spineless invertebrates—all accompanied by fun props and worksheets that guests can take home with them.
To get the day started off right, the Hyatt Regency also now offers Family Fun Fitness Classes in the morning, with a range of activities including dance, high-energy circuit training, and yoga.
Even the traditional on-site lu'au has gotten an upgrade to celebrate 40 years at the resort, by taking guests on a veritable journey through the Pacific. In addition to a brand-new lei demonstration, the lu'au now features a signature drum number as well as updated costumes that feature a new contemporary Hawaiian design. While taking in the nightly show, guests can experience a three-course dinner, sip on craft cocktails compliments of the open bar, and shop for Polynesian crafts made by local artisans.
And, of course, these new features are in addition to the world-class dining options, oceanfront golf, beachfront spa, and other sports and activities on both land and sea that have had guests of the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa returning year after year.
