Fiji's Royal Davui Island Resort Unveils A Major Renovation
Here’s a look inside the private-island resort’s recent upgrade.
Royal Davui Island Resort, a private-island retreat off the southwestern coast of Viti Levu in Fiji, has finished a renovation of its 10-acre property, complete with an upgraded pool, a new lounge and a refurbishing of its 16 private villas.
The eco-friendly resort caters to travelers who appreciate its mission to preserve the simplicity and natural beauty of the surrounding habitat. The adults-only resort is located in the Beqa Lagoon, nestled in jungle foliage atop a barrier reef, coral gardens, white-sand beaches and towering palms.
Among the new features created by the renovation are:
- The Sunset Lounge, an intimate cocktail spot overlooking the Pacific Ocean
- An expanded 60-foot oval pool surrounded by private cabanas, sun loungers and palm trees
- A private dining deck with plush circular couch-style seating along with a thatched roof beach hut for romantic dinners for two
- New toys for water adventurers including kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and snorkeling equipment
Certified scuba divers have access to many world-class dive sites, all within a short drive from the resort, including the famous shark dive in Pacific Harbour. Guests can enroll in a full PADI Open Water Certification program or just get an introduction to the hobby with a Discover Scuba Diving lesson.
Considering a destination wedding in Fiji? For a casual affair, the resort offers an Eloping Package, which includes a beach ceremony, along with marriage license and a private dinner. Those wishing a more formal ceremony can choose the Davui Wedding Package — a ceremony complete with Fijian warriors, a Fijian choir, a flower girl in traditional dress, a private couples massage and more.
Other amenities at Royal Davui Island Resort include a small boutique, a spa, a marine facility, a library and an open-air, multilevel main house that serves as the island's nerve center. Off-island activities include whitewater rafting, golfing, zip-line tours, surfing and fishing trips, along with visits to Suva City and regional museums.
