7 Best Nude Beaches In The Caribbean

Personal freedom at its finest is, perhaps, best epitomized by full, unabated nudity. There aren't many places outside your own home where you can don your birthday suit, but here at Islands, we've come up with a list of the best nude beaches in the Caribbean for when you're traveling in the region.

Fret not about wandering, judgmental eyes while traversing the warm, embracing landscapes of these paradisiacal beaches. Instead, focus on relaxing, or don't focus at all. After all, you're on vacation in the nude.

Aiming to showcase a range of beaches, from standalone spots open to the public to private places that are part of a resort, we've scoured the internet looking at review sites and blogs to put together this list. A more detailed methodology will be at the end. And for anyone who is a newbie to the practice of naturism, read this guide on common mistakes not to make when going to a nude beach for the first time.

Orient Beach, St. Martin

On the French side (naturally — although, the Dutch side has the bare-buns Cupecoy Beach), Orient is the Caribbean's premier place to drop trou. White sands softened by cooling waves give this beach a silky look. "The white sand, clear blue warm water, bright sun, and comfortable temperature are magical," one visitor wrote on Tripadvisor. You're free to wander without charge, but there is a small fee for beach chair and beach umbrella rentals.

Pointe Tarare, Guadeloupe

Narrow and tough to find but popular nonetheless, Pointe Tarare is claimed to be the first legally designated nude beach vacation spot in the Western Hemisphere. Sunbathing here is almost a guarantee, as there's very limited shade at this beach. With a small hike separating this beach and many of its more popular and tourist-populated areas, Pointe Tarare is naturally among the most secluded places on Guadeloupe and is one of the Caribbean's best nude beaches.

Anse du Gouverneur, St. Barthelemy

The more intrepid nudist may want to trek to hard-to-reach Anse du Gouverneur. Its secluded location also offers beautiful, wondrous views of neighboring St. Kitts, Saba, and St. Eustatius. There's free parking available, but you'll be hard-pressed to find restaurants, restrooms, or many other services, so if you want a truly intimate destination, this one's for you. Visitors praise this beach for its ability to make you feel at ease going nude — perfect for first-timers.

Anse de Grande Saline, St. Barts

Located on the next sandy cove over from Anse du Gouverneur, Anse de Grande Salinesits on the south of the island. Visitors to the beach, which scores an impressive 4.5 on Tripadvisor, can expect strong surf and plenty of nudists. It's a beautiful spot, one of the best nude beaches in the world, with rocky cliffs at either end and a wild, uncommercial feel.

Hawksbill Bay, Antigua

The island's only bare beach is a little charmer compared to other beaches in Antigua. It's the last of a string of four white-sand crescents on the west coast and is near the Hawksbill Hotel. You'll find a few sunbeds to encourage a true embrace of sunbathing in the nude, too. This is another one of those destinations that will make you feel comfortable to bare it all, as noted by visitors.

Seven Mile Beach, Jamaica

This beach in Negril, on the west coast of Jamaica, is one of the finest stretches of sand on the island. While nudity is tolerated along parts of the waterfront, it's most gloriously embraced at Hedonism II, an adults-only, all-inclusive, clothing-optional Caribbean resort at the northern end of the beach. This is a great place to find out what it's like to spend a week at a nude resort.

Couples Tower Isle, Jamaica

This is another spot in Jamaica where nudism doesn't raise any eyebrows. One of the best all-inclusives in the Caribbean, and which scores highly on Google reviews, the adults-only Couples Tower Isle sits in Ocho Rios, on the island's north coast. Facilities include exclusive spa villas, four swimming pools, and a wide range of restaurants and bars. There's also a private island where guests can proudly bare all.

Our methodology

There are many nude beaches across the Caribbean. Some are connected to a resort, and others are small, tucked-away sections of sand where nudity isn't officially sanctioned but is tolerated. We went to the effort of reading first-hand reviews on sites like Tripadvisor as well as travel blogs to find excellent beaches where nobody will bat an eyelid if you shed your clothes. A few of these beaches are in the French Caribbean islands — that might not surprise some readers — but we also tried to choose some picks that were unexpected, on islands that aren't generally so laissez-faire about being in the buff on a beach.
