The Aloha Code Early in 2008, ISLANDS contributor Amanda Jones visited the Big Island of Hawaii, hoping to go beyond the typical traveler's experience and see just how deep she could go. In this intimate journey into the heart of one of the most culturally rich islands, she encountered the people and places that make the Big Island so unique.
Like the Big Island, islands across the South Pacific are part of a movement to reclaim and reinforce ancient traditions.
