  • Sierra has traveled to all 50 U.S. states and approximately 30 countries, exploring every continent except Antarctica and Australia (so far). She currently splits her time living between North Carolina and India, the latter being where she received her 500-hour yoga teacher certification and met her husband.
  • Sierra enjoys active vacations and usually plans trips around triathlons and hiking opportunities. She walked, kayaked, and cycled the 1,200 mile Mountains-to-Sea Trail in North Carolina, and she has hiked extensively in Colorado and Austria. She has also competed in Ironman races in countries like South Africa, Argentina, and Israel.
  • Sierra is passionate about exploring cultures through the lens of food, using her background in cultural anthropology and food studies to appreciate and learn from other farming and culinary practices.

Experience

Sierra graduated as a Robertson Scholar at Duke University, a scholarship that enabled her to travel to France and India multiple times to study food and spirituality. Since graduating, she has worked with a boutique advertising agency and as a freelance writer, covering topics like food, travel, and athletics. She continues to travel extensively with her husband and child, taking up unique jobs, like being the head of food and beverage on a film set in the U.K. and working at a vegetarian bed and breakfast on the Appalachian Trail.

Education

Sierra has a bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology from Duke University, as well as a certificate in documentary studies. As a Robertson Scholar, she was able to complete an additional food studies major at UNC-Chapel Hill.
