- He lived in Florence, Italy, for six months while in college and has also traveled to Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Apart from his professional writing, Ryan is an award-winning playwright, essayist, and aspiring novelist. He lives in the foothills of southwestern New Hampshire with his wife and four children.

Ryan holds a bachelor's degree in communication with a concentration in journalism from Westfield State University.
