- Mickey is an avid multilingual who's fluent in Japanese, German, French, and is currently trying to self-teach himself Arabic.
- In 2008, as a freshman in high school, Mickey was the first student to study abroad for five months in Tokyo, Japan in a new immersion program.
- Mickey has a deeply rooted passion for exploring the outdoors, from hiking to whitewater kayaking, to sailing in the Chesapeake Bay.
Experience
Whether it's knocking back some coffee and beignet at Café Du Monde, retracing the path of the Berlin Wall, or driving a boat across Lake Como, Mickey is always on the go. After three years working as a legal specialist in data privacy, he pivoted careers toward freelance writing in the digital and interactive media spaces. In 2024 Mickey joined Static Media's news team at SlashGear, covering developments in new gadgets and automobiles. He's excited to lend his unique voice to Islands and sharing his insights regarding the extent to which new technology has revolutionized the travel experience.
Education
Mickey graduated magna cum laude from Tulane University, double majoring in International Relations and Theater Performance. He received his J.D. from Emory University School of Law.
