International Travel, Sustainable & Outdoor Travel, World Food & Culture
- An advocate of slow, sustainable travel, Matthew stays for months at a time in the countries he visits and takes his time making deep connections and sampling every last traditional dish he can find.
- He particularly loves spending weeks wandering distance trekking routes in the Himalayas and the Alps.
- When he travels, he enjoys roaming museums and art exhibits or following his nose into street food districts with a camera in hand.
Experience
Matthew has traveled and lived internationally as a freelance writer and photographer for the past four years. He started his personal travel blog six years ago and soon found himself traveling on assignment as a photographer in over ten countries, which opened doors for him to experience cultures and cuisines in a way he had never imagined possible. His photography work in Nepal and the Western Balkans has been printed in National Geographic Traveller Magazine, among other international publications, and his photographs have been shown in exhibitions in Greece and Kosovo. Apart from writing for food and travel publications, he has contributed to travel guidebooks on Nepal, Peru, and his home country, the USA.
Education
Matthew has a Bachelor's of Science from Iowa State University.
