  • Wherever Lisa goes, she loves wandering through local markets and checking out neighborhood grocery stores.
  • One of her favorite memories centers on a tiny village in Cyprus where a local lacemaker enthusiastically shared the intricacies of her craft. The lacemaker didn't speak English, and Lisa didn't speak Greek, but they had no trouble understanding one another.
  • She enjoys exploring well-known landmarks, but her greatest joy is savoring the unexpected experiences and connections that travel brings into her life.

Experience

Lisa found her calling as a travel writer in a roundabout way. She was a beat reporter for a suburban daily newspaper in the Greater Boston area when she landed an assignment for the Sunday travel section and never looked back. Lisa spent more than a decade exploring the world as a freelance travel writer, reporting from destinations far and wide, before taking on the role of editor-in-chief at Global Traveler magazine, a position she held for 12 years. She has visited 34 countries on six continents, including 26 Caribbean islands. Highlights of her adventures include camping in the desert at Wadi Rum, strolling the Great Wall of China, and snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef. She has haggled with vendors in Beijing, Marrakech, and Istanbul and has the treasures to prove it.
Lisa is the author of City•Smart Boston, a first-edition guide to the city she calls home. She contributed to "The World's Top Retirement Havens" and comprehensively updated "Fodor's Cape Cod, Nantucket & Martha's Vineyard". Lisa wrote a family travel columnist for The Boston Herald and wrote a regular feature about chefs worldwide for an airline in-flight travel magazine. Her work has appeared in dozens of highly regarded publications, including American Way (American Airlines' inflight magazine), Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Bridal Guide, Coastal Living, Corporate Meetings & Incentives, and Robb Report.

Education

Lisa has a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
